Youth Aid Development Foundation

The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) will begin accepting requests for the third round of the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme. The Programme is the Foundation’s 10-year, US$100 million commitment to training, mentoring and funding 10,000 African entrepreneurs. The application portal will be open until   midnight   (WAT),   March 1, 2017 . Entrepreneurs must complete the online application and selection is on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged.

Anglican Grammar School Orita-Mefa, Total Garden, Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday, 11th of February, 2016 witnessed a re-awakening and life-changing moment after experiencing the Career Development and Skill Empowerment Series (CDSES) organized by Youth Aid Development Initiative. With over 350 senior secondary school students in attendance comprising of S.S.S 1,2&3 Arts,Commercial and Science students, Youth Aid Dev.trained students in quintessential reading, writing and study skill as well as providing counselling sevices to help students gain clarity and excellence in different career paths.

On Thursday, 4th of February, 2016, an awareness campaign and training session  on Leadership, Potential Development and Effective Study Habit-the second for year 2016 was held  at Corner Stone International School, G.R.A Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.  Over 200 senior secondary students from the Commercial, Sciences and Art classes participated.

The Young African Diplomats Network(YADN); an initiative that promotes social development, humanitarianism, Youth development and good governance organised the Youth Diplomats Forum and Free Capacity Building for Secondary Schools. This event took place on Monday ,18th of January, 2016 at the Orogun Grammar School,  Ibadan Oyo State, Nigeria. The theme of the training was Effective Communication, Excellent Reading/Writing Skill and Leadership.

Zika is a disease caused by Zika virus that is spread to people primarily through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week. The Zika virus is a mosquito-transmitted infection related to dengue, yellow fever and West Nile virus.

The Yale Young Global Scholars Program (YYGS) is offering six financial need-based scholarships for high school students from the African continent to attend YYGS this summer at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. The scholarship will cover tuition, airfare and travel expenses to the program. The Yale Young Global Scholars Program is open to students who have one or two years of secondary school remaining, and offers six unique two-week sessions. The program is a rigorous academic experience, featuring lectures from renowned Yale faculty.

Lassa fever is caused by a virus that is found in West Africa. It was first discovered in 1969 in Lassa, Nigeria when two missionary nurses died. Lassa fever is mainly found in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, and Nigeria and is spread by rats. Other neighboring countries are also at risk because the type of rat that spreads the virus is also found throughout the West African region.

Pat Utomi Prize for Students’ Debate on Public Policy 2016 is designed to be an annual debate festival that shall revive and the fast eroding culture of students’ debates in campuses on government policies, programs and public affairs in Nigeria. Each year, interested students from tertiary institutions in Nigeria shall participate in preliminaries to qualify for the grand finale scheduled to hold every 6th February alongside Prof Patrick Utomi’s birthday commemoration and annual lecture.
